ADAM ZAGAJEWSKI, WINNER OF THE 'PRINCESA DE ASTURIAS DE LAS LETRAS’ AWARD, INAUGURATES AN EXHIBITION AT THE MEH'S 'POETRY CUBE' DEDICATED TO HIM
The exhibition features the documentary 'View of Krakow' and a virtual exhibition with some of his audio poems. After the inauguration, the well-known Polish poet, essayist and novelist spoke in the Museum's Events Room.

The 2017 Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras awardee, Adam Zagajewski, inaugurated at the MEH a new exhibition in the MEH Poetry Cube dedicated to him and created by the 'Ocupaccion Poética' Collective and the Museum of Human Evolution, in collaboration with the Polish Institute of Culture in Madrid, the publishing houses a5 and Cliff, Krakow 'Unesco City of Literature', and the Office of the Promotion of the City of Krakow KBF.
In this new exhibition you can see the documentary 'View of Krakow', directed by Magda Piekorz, in which viewers will be able to learn about the literary facet of the Polish city, with Adam Zagajewski as a guide. The project also has a virtual sound exhibition of some audio poems that can be listened to with a mobile device, through several interactive vinyls distributed throughout the Museum.

Of Zagajewski's poems, visitors can listen to, among others, 'Mysticism for Beginners', 'Dutch Painters', 'Self-Portrait in an Airplane', 'Cello' and 'Try to Praise the Mutilated World'. The Poetry Cube will also have interactive boards to help visitors understand the poems.
The 'Ocupacción Poética' Collective claims poetry as a means of self-knowledge and socialization of the individual within his environment. To this end and through the latest technologies offered by mobile devices, the Poetry Cube establishes a dialogue between poets, performers and musicians of the past and present, the result of which, in the form of an audio poem, is made freely available to everyone.
After the inauguration, the Polish poet delivered the conference 'Mysticism for beginners' in the Events Room of the Museum of Human Evolution (MEH), a meeting organized by the MEH, the 'Ocupacción Poética' Collective and the Polish Institute of Culture in Madrid.
Adam Zagajewski is a Polish poet, novelist and essayist born in 1968 and one of the greatest contemporary poets in the world. He has received, among other awards, the ' Vilenica Prize', the 'Adenauer Prize', the 'Berliner award' and the 'Kurt Tucholsky'. He has also been awarded the 'International Neustadt Prize for Literature', the 'Heinrich Mann Prize' and the 'European Prize for Poetry 2010'. His firm position on freedom and the search for beauty is faithfully witnessed in his poems and texts, of great human depth and aesthetic sensitivity. His work has been translated into several languages. His most notable poetic productions are 'To Go to Lvov' (1985), 'Canvas' (1990), 'Land of Fire' (1994), 'Desire' (1997), 'Longing' (1999), 'Homecoming' (2003), 'Aerials' (2005) and 'Unseen Hand' (2009). Among his essay books are 'Two Cities', 'In Defense of Ardor', 'Solidarity, Solitude' and 'From Rereading Rilke'.
